CALL TO ORDER  
A special meeting of the Kane County Board was held at the Kane County Government  
Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Bldg. A, Geneva, IL 60134 on December 2, 2024.  
Chief Dpty. Clerk Weilandt called the meeting to order at 1:03 PM. Kane County Clerk  
John Cunningham proceeded to swear in Corinne Pierog as County Board Chairman  
and swore in re-elected Board Members Bates, Berman, Gumz, Tarver, Roth, Williams,  
Strathmann, Tepe, Sanchez, and newly elected Board Members Garcia, Gripe, and  
Penesis.

REMOTE ATTENDANCE REQUESTS  
Madam Chair asked for permission to allow Board Member Daugherty to join the  
meeting remotely. No objections voiced.  
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & INVOCATION  
Board Member Allan led the assembly with the Pledge of Allegiance. For new board  
members, Madam Chair announced they will be assigned an opportunity to do the  
invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Madam Chair shared some words from Pope  
John Paul II.

PUBLIC COMMENT  
Mark Avelar congratulated the Chairwoman and welcomed newly elected board  
members and officials. He asked that the board work together and influence policy in  
Springfield the way the residents would want to see. He relayed the board will have to  
see how the new April referendum will work out since it will depend upon the voters,  
calling attention to the fact that the people have spoken, they want dialog, and  
solutions since many local businesses were closing and costs were increasing.

CHAIRMAN'S COMMENTS  
Madam Chair welcomed and shared some words with the new board members. She  
asked for cooperation among the board to have a better future.

Declaring a Vacancy in the Office of County Board Member in  
the County of Kane (District 7)

Madam Chair stated she sent a letter to the party chairs notifying them that an  
opening exists for County Board District 7. A recommendation will be made at  
the January board meeting, pending board approval. The basis for the  
recommendation is due to the resignation of Member Silva to assume another  
office.

Appointments to County Board Standing and Other Committees (not included)  
Madam Chair thanked Board Members Tepe, Berman and Kious for organizing the  
committee structure. Distributution of the committees list followed. Madam Chair  
explained that if a member is not happy to be on their committee, to find another board  
member to exchange with. Final changes would be due by next Monday, December  
9th. Member Juby asked what the criteria was to be removed from a committee and  
asked why she was removed from the Finance Committee, wherein the chairwoman  
shared her responses.  
Questions followed as to when the vice chairs were voted upon, when the new District  
7 board member begins, and the intent of the December 9th meeting.

Madam Chair asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. The meeting adjourned at  
1:37 PM.
