Remote Attendance Requests  
Committee Chair Bates announced the remote attendance requests for today's  
meeting. She asked the Committee if there were any objections to Committee Member  
Tarver attending today's meeting remotely. There were no objections.

Environmental (J.Wollnik)  
Environ. & Water Res. Dir. Wollnik stated that due to the bad weather they are  
rescheduling the Solar Field ribbon cutting to Friday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m.  
Committee Member Allan arrived at 9:07 a.m. Wollnik stated they are requesting  
additional riverboat funds to assist with improving the Geneva Creek. There will be an  
engineering firm partnering with a contractor to stabilized the grotto area, as well as the  
eroded sections. She provided an update on the Army Corp and that it is currently  
accepting comments on their Fox River Dam website, foxriverstudygroup.org, until  
November 6. Wollnik addressed questions and comments from the Committee.  
Discussion ensued.

Recycling/Solid Waste (C. Ryan)  
Recycling Program Update  
A.  
Kane County Recycling Coordinator, Clair Ryan, provided an update. She  
reviewed the "Fall Shred 'n' More" program. There were 725 attendees. She  
shared pictures of the 22 volunteers at the event. Ryan announced the Annual  
Pumpkin Smash Event, which will be held on November 4th, 2023 from  
9am-noon at various locations around the county. They will be focusing on  
recycling and composting items for reuse. Ryan stated they are working with  
other counties to help fund public education on recycling batteries. Ryan  
addressed questions or comments from the Committee.

Sustainability (S. Hinshaw)  
Approving FY24 Operations and Maintenance Agreement with USGS for the  
Stream and Rainfall Gages

EV Readiness Update  
B.  
Hinshaw presented the EV Readiness Program update. She announced the  
program will be wrapping up in April. She shared the updated contents of the  
website, such as rebates and incentives for electric vehicles. She reviewed the  
EV advantages and benefits, and the charging station ordinance. She  
addressed questions and comments from the Committee. Much discussion  
ensued.  
Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Update  
C.  
Hinshaw presented the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Update. The grant is  
in the planning stages. Hinshaw addressed questions and comments from the  
Committee.  
Tree Protection Ordinance Update  
D.  
Miller presented the Tree Protection Ordinance Update. Staff members are  
looking at creating a tree protection ordinance for Kane County. They have  
received other tree protection ordinances from the Chicago region. Miller will  
provide further updates at the next meeting. She addressed questions and  
comments from the Committee.

Committee Chair Bates announced the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act Workforce  
Hubs in Illinois are currently training students on solar and green energy jobs.
