AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A CONCEPT PLAN FOR THE EXPANSION OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER

WHEREAS, there is an increasing need for additional courtroom space at the Juvenile Justice Center to handle Abuse and Neglect cases; and

WHEREAS, a concept plan is desired to develop a more detailed space program and concept design to better define the needs, potential solutions and costs; and

WHEREAS, expansion of the JJC provides the opportunity to address program needs that were identified in the previous space needs study and master planning efforts including courtroom expansion, judiciary staff office space, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) and neutral exchange program; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 23-156 authorized a contract extension for Architect, Engineer, and Construction Manager at Risk Services Contract(s) with Wight & Company and other vendors; and

WHEREAS, the budget and proposed cost for the concept design project as identified in Exhibit A is at a cost not to exceed $58,000; and

WHEREAS, the cost of the project is to be paid from available Judicial Facility Construction Funds.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Wight & Company to proceed with the professional services proposal to develop a concept plan for the expansion of the Juvenile Justice Center in a not to exceed amount of Fifty-Eight Thousand Dollars ($58,000).
