Authorizing Increase in Headcount for New Grant-Funded Home Visiting Nurse

WHEREAS, programs that support mothers during pregnancy and through the child’s second birthday are proven to improve health outcomes, and
WHEREAS, the Health Department provides an evidence-based, community health program for first time mothers and their children called Kane Kares, and
WHEREAS, the Kane Kares program implements the Nurse-Family Partnership Model, a nationally recognized intervention with over 45 years of research supporting its efficacy, and
WHEREAS, in order to serve more Kane County families, Kane County Health Department seeks to create a new nursing position utilizing an increase in grant funding, and
WHEREAS, this new position will be 100% grant funded, and
WHEREAS, the approved budget for fiscal year 2024 supports salary and fringe amounts for this position, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board authorizes the Health Department to increase headcount to hire one additional nurse.
