AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF QUALIFIED VENDORS TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL SERVICES FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURE PROJECTS

WHEREAS, The Kane County Development and Community Services Department is seeking County Board approval of two qualified professional service providers to support the completion of ongoing and planned food and agriculture projects; and
WHEREAS, Kane County has secured grant funding through state, federal, and foundation sources, including appropriated American Rescue Plan Act funds, to address ongoing challenges faced by local food growers, community barriers to local foods, farmland conservation priorities, and the need for agriculture-focused economic development tools; and
WHEREAS, The Department is actively overseeing Farmland Protection Program (Ord. # 01-67), Growing for Kane Program (Ord. # 13-240), and other economic development initiatives to conserve farmland, support agricultural business opportunities, and increase access to fresh, local foods in Kane County communities; and
WHEREAS, The Department anticipates a future need to expediently onboard qualified project specialists to successfully implement planned grant programs and respond to future project needs; and
WHEREAS, The Department has reviewed submissions in response to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ #: 24-015-TS - Agricultural Consultants) determining that the following vendors are qualified to provide professional services: New Venture Advisors LLC and Ellen Kamps.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board that the project vendors named herein be approved to provide professional services at the discretion of the Kane County Development and Community Services Department.
