Approving the County of Kane Compliance Statement for Website Accessibility

WHEREAS, in April 2024, the Department of Justice published a final rule to update its regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disability Act and address the accessibility of web content and mobile applications for individuals with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Department of Justice regulations, the County of Kane must ensure that the web content and mobile applications it provides or makes available comply with a specific technical standard (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Version 2.1, Level AA compliance) by April 24, 2026; and
WHEREAS, as part of the County’s approach to comply with the Department of Justice regulations and to help ensure that its web content and mobile applications are accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities, the Kane County Information Technologies Department has developed a “Compliance Statement for Website Access” for placement on all County external websites.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board approves the “County of Kane Accessibility Compliance Statement” attached hereto as Exhibit A.
