Authorizing Acceptance of Amendment to Family Run Organization Agreement

WHEREAS, mental health and substance use issues have been steadily increasing in children and adults since 2021. Kane County has a shortage of behavioral health providers. Community-based peer support services are an evidence-based way to address the immediate service needs in the community; and
WHEREAS, The Kane County Health Department received a Family Run Organization Planning Grant from the Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation in the amount of one hundred, fifty thousand dollars ($150,000); and
WHEREAS, The Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation will add One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) to the funding award to increase community-based parent and youth peer supports for mental health and substance use; and
WHEREAS, the funding will allow KCHD to address the shortage of behavioral health professionals in relation to the elevated need in the community and provide additional evidence-based services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board that the Chairman be authorized to accept and sign the agreement for funding from the Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation for a total of $1,150,000 to support increased parent and youth peer supports for mental health and substance use.
