AUTHORIZING THE PROVISION OF FUNDS TO THE CITY OF BATAVIA FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the Kane County Energy and Environmental Committee directed civic contribution funds from the Electric Aggregation program be used for sustainability-focused measures that directly benefit the community (Resolution 21-322 Creation of Fund 421, March 11, 2022 E&E); and

WHEREAS, the City of Batavia has developed a Grant for Residential Energy Efficiency in Neighborhoods (GREEN) designed to provide energy audits to residential homes to reduce energy consumption, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the sustainability; and

WHEREAS, the GREEN Program provides a rebate to residents up to $1000 for energy improvements and up to $3000 for households under 80% of Area Median Income; and

WHEREAS, the goals of the GREEN Program align with Kane County Climate Action Implementation Plan's sustainability objectives, advancing clean energy solutions, reducing utility costs, and promoting environmental stewardship; and

WHEREAS, City of Batavia residents are not within ComEd's service area and therefore residents have limited options to participate in or receive energy efficiency rebates; and

WHEREAS, Kane County finds it to be in the public interest to support the City of Batavia's efforts to enhance energy efficiency, long-term cost savings and reduction of greenhouse gases.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board and the Chairman approves $20,000 to be appropriated from the Electric Aggregation Fund 421 and disbursed to the City of Batavia for the purpose of supporting its GREEN Program.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Kane County Board and the Chairman is authorized to enter into an agreement with the City of Batavia upon review and approval of the agreement by the State's Attorney's office.
