WHEREAS, bids have been solicited and received for the annual supply of ice control salt for the Maintenance Department of the Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) and participating governmental agencies (Agencies) through the Kane County Purchasing Department; and

WHEREAS, KDOT will utilize "Treated" salt that is untreated "Dry" salt mixed with an application of a chemical deicing agent to create ice control salt for winter roadway maintenance; and

WHEREAS, the Agencies will utilize both "Treated" salt that is untreated "Dry" salt mixed with an application of a chemical deicing agent to create ice control salt for winter roadway maintenance and untreated "Dry" salt; and

WHEREAS, the Treated Salt Contract allows for the purchase of 80% - 120% of the contract amount and the Dry Salt Contract allows for the purchase of 80% - 120% of the contract amount for the 2025-2026 winter season; and

WHEREAS, Salt Xchange, Inc., 675 McClure Road, Aurora, Illinois 60502 was the low bidder in the amount of Eighty-Three and 50/100 Dollars ($83.50) per ton for the Dry salt and Cargill, Incorporated, 24950 Country Club Blvd., Suite 450, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 Ninety-Three and 83/100 Dollars ($93.83) per ton for Treated salt; and

WHEREAS, it is estimated that KDOT will purchase approximately 10,000 tons of Treated salt from Cargill, Incorporated for the 2025-2026 winter season and the Treated Salt contract allows for the purchase of up to 12,000 tons of Treated Salt by the County; and
