APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE COUNTY OF KANE FOR THE ILLINOIS ROUTE 47 PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL LINKAGES (PEL) STUDY

WHEREAS, the Illinois Constitution of 1970, Article VII, Section 10 and the Illinois Compiled Statutes, (5 ILCS 220/1, et seq.) authorizes the County of Kane (County) and the State of Illinois (State) to cooperate in the performance of their respective duties and responsibilities by contract and other agreements; and
WHEREAS, the County and the State (through its Illinois Department of Transportation) desire to cooperate among themselves to accomplish planning and research funding for the Illinois Route 47 Planning and Environmental Linkages Study (hereinafter the "Study"); and
WHEREAS, the County and the State desire to undertake planning and research for the Study at an estimated cost of Four Million Dollars ($4,000.000.00); and
WHEREAS, the Study is deemed by the County and the State to be of immediate benefit to the residents of the County of Kane and the State of Illinois in that it shall facilitate the efficient process for inventory control; and
WHEREAS, the County and the State have determined a mutually satisfactory allocation of responsibilities and costs for Illinois Route 47 Planning and Environmental Linkages Study as set forth in an intergovernmental agreement with the State (a copy of which is on file with the Kane County Clerk's Office).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman thereof is hereby authorized to execute an intergovernmental agreement(s) with the State of Illinois acting through the Illinois Department of Transportation for Illinois Route 47 Planning and Environmental Linkages Study.
