AUTHORIZING FY2024 BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FOR THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

WHEREAS, in 2022 the Office of Emergency Management was awarded a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Program Grant (HMPG) in the amount of $63,500.00 through the State of Illinois, funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, for the purpose of hiring a consultant to develop the Kane County Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan and said grant was accepted (Resolution 22-255); and
WHEREAS, a consultant was hired pursuant to resolution 22-258, the plan was completed and adopted in 2024, and during FY 2024 the County received $48,698.00 in grant funds from the State of Illinois, and these funds are reimbursements for direct consultant costs ($45,982.00) and County staff costs to manage the grant ($2,716.00); and
WHEREAS, the County paid consultant invoices totaling $45,982.00 during FY2024 for work on the plan; and
WHEREAS, these amounts were not budgeted in FY2024 because it was believed at grant acceptance that the consultant would be paid directly by the State of Illinois; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board that the following budget adjustments be made to the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget:
