Resolution Approving a Bid for Prescribed Burns at Seven Forest Preserves

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and desirable for the Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Kane County, Illinois to authorize a bid for controlled burns at seven preserves; and
WHEREAS, the District actively restores areas using prescribed burning as a tool for the control of invasive species as well as the proliferation of native species; and
WHEREAS, contractors were sought to bid on fall 2026/spring 2027 prescribed burns across seven different preserves. The qualified lowest bids for each project were as follows:
Project 1 Arlene Shoemaker Forest Preserve (1.5 acres): Bid of $3,798.90 by Woods to Wetlands
Project 2 Bolcum Road Wetlands Forest Preserve (35.2 acres): Bid of $6,652.80 by Baxter & Woodman, Inc
Project 3 Bowes Creek Greenway Forest Preserve (2.8 acres): Bid of $3,249.40 by Woods to Wetlands
Project 4 Braeburn Marsh Forest Preserve (35.1 acres): Bid of $7,395.57 by Baxter & Woodman, Inc
Project 5 Chicago Premium Outlets Forest Preserve (11.1 acres): Bid of $7,659.00 by Baxter & Woodman, Inc
Project 6 McLean Road Fen Forest Preserve (16.3 acres): Bid of $5,150.80 by Baxter & Woodman, Inc
Project 7 Stearns Road Forest Preserve (7.1 acres): Bid of $3,401.18 by Integrated Lakes Management, Inc; and
WHEREAS, the total for the above seven projects is $37,307.65.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Kane County, Illinois that the bids received from Woods to Wetlands of Streamwood, IL for projects 1 and 3 at a total cost of $7,048.30, the bids from Baxter & Woodman, Inc for projects 2, 4, 5, and 6 at a total cost of $26,858.17 and the bid from Integrated Lakes Management, Inc of Waukegan, IL for project 7 at a cost of $3,401.18 are hereby accepted and approved.
