RATIFYING AN EMERGENCY PURCHASE AFFIDAVIT FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE VEHICLE FOR THE KANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff is an elected official who, in order to fulfill his duties, requires the use of working vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office is currently in need of one (1) vehicle to replace a Deputy's vehicle that was totaled in a recent accident; and
WHEREAS, there continues to be supply chain issues impacting the ability to purchase appropriate vehicles pursuant to the bidding requirements of the Kane County Purchasing Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office Fleet Services Manager was able to locate an appropriate replacement vehicle, a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD, at Karl Automotive Group of Ankeny, Iowa, for a price of Fifty-One Thousand, Seven Hundred Seventy-One and 20/100 Dollars ($51,771.20); and
WHEREAS, this vehicle was only available within a week of it being located, thus requiring immediate purchase; and
WHEREAS, the cost of this vehicle will be partially offset by insurance reimbursement once the claim from the accident is settled in an amount still being determined; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County to ratify the emergency purchase of the vehicle minimize the disruption of County services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board hereby ratifies the Emergency Purchase Affidavit submitted by the Kane County Sheriff's Office and authorized by the County Board Chairman for the purchase of the one (1) 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD vehicle, and the Kane County Sheriff's Office is retroactively authorized to make said purchase from Karl Automotive Group in the amount of Fifty-One Thousand, Seven Hundred Seventy-One and 20/100 Dollars ($51,771.20).
