Resolution Approving a Bid for the Phase II Construction of an Electric Bison Fence at Burlington Forest Preserve

WHEREAS, the restoration of ecosystems native to Kane County, including tallgrass prairie and the importance of grazing to that system, is critical to the mission of the Forest Preserve District; and

 

WHEREAS, the reintroduction of large-scale grazing is now best done by constructing pastures on restored grasslands as exemplified by the recent bison reintroduction at Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve; and

 

WHEREAS, expansion of the existing pasture is critical to the growth and success of the current bison herd; and

 

WHEREAS, the construction of a six-foot electric fence for the purpose of expanding the bison grazing pasture was bid by the District; and

 

WHEREAS, the lowest qualified bid was received from KP Fencing LLC dba FencePeoria in the amount of $142,000. Additionally, $14,000 will be set aside as contingency to cover any unforeseen costs that may arise during the project, for a total of $156,000.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Kane County, Illinois that the bid submitted by KP Fencing LLC dba FencePeoria of Wenona, Illinois, in the amount of $142,000 plus a contingency of $14,000 for a total project cost not to exceed $156,000 be, and hereby is, accepted and approved.
