Resolution Accepting the Bid for the Replacement of a Restroom at Big Rock Forest Preserve

WHEREAS, the District currently maintains 75 restroom facilities in over 40 Forest Preserves in Kane County; and

 

WHEREAS, Big Rock Forest Preserve has 5 restroom facilities; 3 located within the Big Rock Campground and 2 located in the southern access; and

 

WHEREAS, the southern facility in Big Rock Forest Preserve located nearest to Siegler Lake is a single-vault plastic Romtec unit that was installed in 2003; and

 

WHEREAS, bids have been solicited and received for the replacement of a waterless vault restroom at Big Rock Forest Preserve; and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed specifications include removal and disposal of the existing restroom and installation of a new restroom with ADA-accessible walkway; and

 

WHEREAS, the qualified, lowest bid was Midwest Excavators of Wasco, Illinois, for a bid price of $138,992.00, with an additional 5% contingency of $6,949.60 for any unforeseen construction costs, for a total project cost not to exceed $145,941.60.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, in Kane County, Illinois, that the qualified, lowest bid from Midwest Excavators of Wasco, Illinois, for $138,992.00 plus a 5% contingency, for a total project cost not to exceed $145,941.60 be, and hereby is, accepted and approved.
