RATIFYING AN EMERGENCY PURCHASE AFFIDAVIT FOR TEMPORARY CERTIFIED 9-1-1 TELECOMMUNICATOR STAFFING

WHEREAS, KaneComm is responsible for handling incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services, and deploying those agencies; and
WHEREAS, KaneComm is currently experiencing a staffing shortage due to current vacancies, one pending telecommunicator resignation and a leave of absence, and normal hiring and the six-to-nine-month training program will not provide immediate coverage in the 9-1-1 center and schedule relief for the team that are necessary in a timely manner; and
WHEREAS, in order to meet necessary minimum staffing requirements and reduce excessive, long mandated overtime shifts for current staff, KaneComm has an immediate and urgent need to for temporary certified 9-1-1 Telecommunicator staffing to prevent or minimize the disruption to this crucial public safety service; and
WHEREAS, getRESQ911 will provide KaneComm temporary certified 9-1-1 Telecommunicator staffing in an amount not to exceed $219,800 for nine (9) months, from the budgeted KaneComm personnel fund line item.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Emergency Purchase Affidavit, submitted by Kane County Emergency Communications and authorized by the County Board Chairman, is hereby ratified for the purchase of temporary certified 9-1-1 Telecommunicator staffing, as outlined in the Professional Services Agreement, from getRESQ911 in the amount of $219,800.
