AMENDING THE SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES

WHEREAS, the Kane County Board has established and maintains Kane County Animal Control ("Animal Control") as its animal pound or animal control facility, pursuant to the Illinois Counties Code, 55 ILCS 5/5-1070, and the Illinois Animal Control Act, 510 ILCS 5/1, et seq.; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board has the statutory authority to fix fees and charges for the services of Animal Control pursuant 55 ILCS 5/5-1070, 510 ILCS 5/3, 5/8; and
WHEREAS, the operations of Animal Control are subject to increasing costs and that some fees and charges for the services of Animal Control have not been revised since 2006; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board and Animal Control wish to meet these increasing costs without funding from the County taxes; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board deems it necessary and desirable to amend the current Schedule of Fees ordinance (Ordinance No. 06-154) for Animal Control services provided by the County, which will also allow Animal Control to also expand the number of services it provides to individual pet owners in the County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Kane County Board hereby authorizes that the Kane County Animal Control Ordinance and the Kane County Code be and is hereby amended as follows:
Section 5-49-1(b). Effective May 14, 2024, the fees to individual owners for animal control services with the County shall be as follows:
Rabies Vaccine............................................................... $15.00
Boarding charges per day (non-neutered)............................. $50.00
Boarding charges per day (neutered)................................... $25.00
After-Hours pick-up fee..................................................... $50.00
(Weekdays 8pm-6:59am, Weekends/Holidays anytime)
(this fee is in addition to pick-up and boarding fee)
