RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT OF KANE COUNTY AND THE COUNTY OF KANE FOR VOLUNTEER SITE RESTORATION SERVICES

WHEREAS, the County of Kane, an Illinois County organized under the Counties Code, 55 I.L.C.S 5/1-1001 et.seq. (County) and the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Illinois (District), by virtue of its powers as set forth in the Downstate Forest Preserve Act 70 ILCS 805/0.001 et seq. are authorized to enter into this Intergovernmental Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the District and the County desire to enter into an intergovernmental agreement to permit community volunteers to perform nuisance and invasive vegetation removal on County owned property at the Kane County Recycling Center; and
WHEREAS, the District desires to identify a site for the Volunteer Program to conduct a large invasive tree and brush removal event for local students in March, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the long-term success of the District's restoration efforts will improve if a community volunteer program could be utilized on County property to remove nuisance and invasive vegetation directly adjacent to the Fabyan Forest Preserve; and
WHEREAS, the DISTRICT already has an established Volunteer Program for Natural Areas Management to organize, train and oversee volunteers interested in performing management activities such as nuisance and invasive vegetation removal; and
WHEREAS, the DISTRICT has agreed to utilize its Volunteer Program for Natural Areas Management to conduct nuisance and invasive vegetation removal on the Kane County Recycling Center property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Kane County, Illinois, that the President and Secretary of the District be, and hereby are, authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the District, the intergovernmen...
