AUTHORIZING PROGRESSIVE ENERGY GROUP, LLC AS KANE COUNTY’S ELECTRIC ENERGY BROKER AND ENTERING AN AGREEMENT FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF ELECTRICITY

WHEREAS, Kane County purchases electricity on the open market to service Kane County facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board previously approved a Professional Services Agreement with Progressive Energy Group, LLC ("Progressive") for energy consulting services pursuant to Resolution No. 23-167; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 24-450 authorized Progressive to provide electric power consulting services and obtain bids for electricity for Kane County; and
WHEREAS, Progressive submitted a Statement of Work dated August 10, 2026, to provide electric energy procurement and brokerage services for Kane County; and
WHEREAS, Progressive will assist Kane County with analyzing, negotiating, and procuring retail electric supply for County accounts and will be compensated directly by the electric supplier, with no direct payment by Kane County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that Progressive Energy Group, LLC is hereby authorized to serve as Kane County's electric energy broker and provide electric energy procurement and brokerage services pursuant to the August 10, 2026 Statement of Work. Progressive Energy Group, LLC shall be compensated directly by the electric supplier and not by Kane County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman thereof is hereby authorized and directed to award and enter into a contract for the purchase of electricity for up to a five (5) year term, subject to legal review, modification and recommendations by Kane County States Attorney's Office. The costs thereof charged to the appropriate operating budgets consistent with the approved budget. Final terms of said contract will be determined by the most favorable rate and terms for Kane County.
