APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF NINE REPLACEMENT VEHICLES BY THE KANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office would like to purchase nine (9) vehicles this fiscal year, two (2) to be designated for and upfitted as K9 Units, and seven (7) set up to be used as regular squad vehicles in order to support law enforcement activities; and
WHEREAS, funds for the purchase of these vehicles have been budgeted in FY2026 in the New Vehicle Fund and will replace ten (10) vehicles that have reached the end of their useful life; and
WHEREAS, the most responsive vendor was Currie Motors, 10125 W. Laraway, Frankfort, Illinois, which provided a price of $59,240.67 each for two 2026 Chevrolet Tahoes and $50,508.00 each for seven (7) 2026 Ford Utility Interceptors making the total for the nine (9) vehicles of Four Hundred Seventy-Two Thousand, Thirty-Seven and 34/100 Dollars ($472,037.34); and
WHEREAS, all vehicles will be up-fitted for each unit's particular planned use at a cost of Twenty-One Thousand, Seven Hundred Sixty-Five and 30/100 Dollars ($21,765.30) per K9 vehicle and Seven Thousand, Two Hundred Forty and 00/100 Dollars ($7,240.00) per squad vehicle using various vendors and equipment in stock, making the total expenditure for upfitting Ninety-Four Thousand, Two Hundred Ten and 60/100 Dollars ($94,210.60) for the nine vehicles. The total expense for the nine road-ready K9 and Squad Utility vehicles will be Five Hundred Sixty-Six Thousand, Two Hundred Forty-Seven and 94/100 Dollars ($566,247.94) to be drawn for the Sheriff's Office New Vehicle Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board and the Chairman approves that the Sheriff of Kane County enter into contracts with Currie Motors of Frankfurt, Illinois, for a total of Four Hundred Seventy-Two Thousand, Thirty-Seven and 34/100 Dollars ($472,037.34) for the purchase of nine (9) replacement police vehicles, and expend an add...
