Ratifying an Emergency Purchase Affidavit for Radio Tower Installations and Repairs

WHEREAS, KaneComm is responsible for handling incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services, and deploying those agencies; and
WHEREAS, KaneComm is currently updating 9-1-1 radio infrastructure to replace antiquated equipment and enhance public safety radio system coverage for all subscribing agencies; and
WHEREAS, in order to prevent or minimize the disruption to this crucial public safety radio infrastructure and dispatch services, it is necessary to immediately install and service equipment that affects public health and safety at the following locations: the Plato tower, Geneva tower, KDOT Tower, South Elgin water tower and the Carpentersville water tower; and
WHEREAS, Tower Works, a qualified tower crew and service provider, is the immediately available contractor capable of providing the necessary equipment installation and tower services without delay and has provided five quotes, one for each location, in the total of $47,102.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Emergency Purchase Affidavit, submitted by Kane County Emergency Communications and authorized by the County Board Chairman, is hereby ratified for 9-1-1 public safety radio equipment and installation, to be performed by Tower Works at the Plato Tower, Geneva Tower, KDOT Tower, South Elgin water tower and the Carpentersville water tower and in the amount of forty-seven thousand, one hundred and two dollars ($47,102.00).
