EXPANSION OF A CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF KANE AND COMCAST OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS, INC. TO INCLUDE THE TOWNSHIP OF HAMPSHIRE

WHEREAS, on July 14, 2020, the Kane County Board approved the renewal of eight cable television franchises to subsidiaries of Comcast Corporation by means of a Master Franchise Agreement that was approved through Ordinance No. 20-216, which included a list of those subsidiaries; and
WHEREAS, one of the aforementioned subsidiaries is Comcast of Northern Illinois, Inc., whose franchise agreement is currently in force and effect in Kane County; and whose franchise area includes Dundee Township; and
WHEREAS, Comcast Corporation has requested to expand the franchise area of Comcast of Northern Illinois, Inc. to include Hampshire Township; and
WHEREAS, the unincorporated area of Hampshire Township is not currently within the franchise area of any cable operator that has a franchise granted by Kane County or granted by an authorization of the Illinois Commerce Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board finds that the expansion of the franchise area served by Comcast of Northern Illinois, Inc. to include the unincorporated area of Hampshire Township will address the cable related needs and interests of the residents of the unincorporated area of the Township of Hampshire in accordance with the federal Cable Act; and
WHEREAS, the Amendment included hereto shall include Hampshire Township in the Master Franchise Agreement by and between the County of Kane and Comcast of Northern Illinois, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, The Amendment is subject to the same terms and expiration dates as the Master Franchise Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Amendment is included as Attachment A to this Resolution.
