AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A SPOT ROBOT SYSTEM FROM FLYMOTION, LLC BY THE KANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office specialty units respond to a variety of emergency situations throughout Kane County and Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office is in need of a new robot for use by its Bomb/EOD Hazardous Response Unit, SWAT Team, CRT Unit, and other teams to enhance responsiveness and safety for all citizens of Kane County. The current robotics system used by the Sheriff's Office is 27 years old, making it very outdated and in need of immediate upgrade; and
WHEREAS, through Sourcewell, it was determined that FlyMotion, LLC, of Tampa, FL, is the only vendor able to meet the specifications required by the Sheriff's Office for utilization by multiple units, and is recognized as a leader in cutting-edge solutions in tactical deployment and robotic integration; and
WHEREAS, Boston Dynamics Spot robot with FlyMotion integrations and related components, including training and shipping, is available for Three Hundred Fifty-Three Thousand, Seventy-One and 90/100 Dollars ($353,071.90); and
WHEREAS, Kane County Purchasing and State's Attorney's Office have reviewed this purchase and verify that it meets purchasing specifications as a sole-source vendor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board authorizes that the quote from FlyMotion, LLC, 4416 Eagle Falls Place, Tampa, FL, be accepted for the purchase of the Boston Dynamics Spot robot system, including training and shipping, in the amount of Three Hundred Fifty-Three Thousand, Seventy-One and 90/100 Dollars ($353,071.90), which sum shall be paid from the Sheriff's Office New Vehicle Fund, and the Chairman is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement to purchase said equipment at the above-stated price.
