AUTHORIZING THE KANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE FORENSIC LABORATORIES RENOVATION PROJECT AND BUDGET ADJUSTMENT TO THE CAPITAL FUND

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office has established a new forensics lab on its premises in coordination with the Opioid Settlement Funds Committee, which was created to support the work of the Sheriff's Office, State's Attorney's Office, and the Coroner's Office; and

WHEREAS, the Kane County Forensics Laboratory began testing drug chemicals shortly after opening in June of 2023 with two staff members and some basic equipment; and

WHEREAS, the goal is to grow the Kane County Forensics Lab into a full-fledged laboratory to provide forensic analysis to expedite test results to law enforcement agencies and the coroner; and

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office, in coordination with Building Management and the Purchasing Department, announced a request for proposals to renovate a portion of the Sheriff's Office to fully house the Forensics Lab; and

WHEREAS, bids were solicited for the Kane County Sheriff's Office Forensics Laboratories Renovation Project (BID #25-008). A total of eight (8) bids were received and opened publicly on Friday, February 28, 2025, after 2:00 pm; and

WHEREAS, a Kane County Evaluation Team consisting of members from the Kane County Sheriff's Office, the Kane County Building Management Department, and Kluber Architects & Engineers, the architect of record, held a project scope review after the bid opening to ensure that each bidder fully understood the project and the contract requirements and to determine the best overall contractor for the project; and

WHEREAS, per the bid documents and specifications, the Kane County Evaluation Team recommends that the project be awarded to the lowest bidder, which is Lite Construction, Inc (LCI), 711 S. Lake Street, Montgomery, IL 60538, with a Total Bid of $1,227,000.00. LCI...
