AUTHORIZING INTER-GOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES - JUVENILE JUSTICE COUNCIL GRANT

WHEREAS, the Illinois Juvenile Court Act provides that each county may establish a local juvenile justice council pursuant to 705 ILCS 405/6-12; and

WHEREAS, the County of Kane has established such a council to further the goals of implementing programs, policies, and practices that improve the effectiveness of local juvenile justice systems, reduce unnecessary juvenile justice system involvement and/or analyze and reduce racial and ethnic disparities within the justice system as set forth within the Juvenile Court Act; and

WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Human Services, through the Juvenile Justice Commission, has awarded the County of Kane an initial grant in the amount of $58,665 (Fifty-Eight Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Five Dollars), with an anticipated additional award of $20,000 (Twenty Thousand Dollars), to support the operations of the Juvenile Justice Council as set forth herein; and

WHEREAS, this initial grant is included in the Kane County Fiscal Year 2025 Budget in Line Item: 001.300.000.32095.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman thereof is authorized to execute Inter-Governmental Agreement No. FCSDR04829 for FY2025 with the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services for the receipt of a grant in the amount of $58,665 (Fifty-Eight Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Five Dollars).

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURHTER RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman thereof is authorized to execute any associated agreements, amendments, or documents, which may include an additional award of $20,000 (Twenty Thousand Dollars), to allow for the receipt of the maximum amount of revenues made available by the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services to support the Kane County Juvenile Justice Council, subject to the re...
