Resolution Approving a Bid for Parking Lot Improvements at Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve and Pavement Deconstruction at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and desirable for the Forest Preserve Commission to authorize bids for the parking lot Improvements at Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve and pavement deconstruction at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve; and
WHEREAS, the parking lot at Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve shall be expanded to include 41 parking stalls and be finished with a combination of an asphalt and permeable pavement, ADA compliant surface; and
WHEREAS, the decommissioned entry road at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve shall be fully removed and replaced with clean topsoil; and
WHEREAS, the qualified, lowest bid for the projects was received from Obsidian Asphalt Paving totaling $261,000.00. Additionally, the District is requesting a 10% contingency of $26,100.00 for unanticipated construction costs that may arise during construction, for a total project amount of $287,100.00
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Illinois, that the bid received from Obsidian Asphalt Paving for the parking lot improvements at Burlington Prairie Forest Preserve and pavement deconstruction at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in the amount of $261,000.00, plus a contingency of $26,100.00, for a total contract amount not to exceed $287,100.00 be, and herby accepted and approved.
