Amending Ordinance 23-77 and Section 2-47 of the Kane County Code to Allow for Remote Attendance at Meetings

WHEREAS, by Ordinance 23-77, the Kane County Board amended the Kane County Code, Chapter 2 (Administration), Article II (County Board), Division 2 (Rules of Order) to add a new subsection 2 to section 2-47: Conduct of Meetings to allow for board members to attend meetings in compliance with the Open Meetings Act; and

 

WHEREAS, by Public Act 103-331, effective July 28, 2023, the General Assembly amended section 7 of the Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/7), which addresses attendance at a meeting by a means other than physical presence, to authorize public bodies to allow for remote attendance for unexpected childcare obligations; and

 

WHEREAS, the Kane County Board desires to amend Ordinance 23-77 to incorporate the legislative amendment made to section 7 of the Open Meetings Act, and also to make other changes to Ordinance 23-77, as reflected in Exhibit A.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Kane County Board that Ordinance 23-77 and the Kane County Code, Chapter 2 (Administration), Article II (County Board), Division 2 (Rules of Order) is amended by adding new subsection D to Section 2-47: Conduct of Meetings to allow for board members to attend meetings remotely in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, as reflected in the attached Exhibit A.
