RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A BID FOR TRAIL RESURFACING ON THE ILLINOIS PRAIRIE PATH-BATAVIA SPUR

WHEREAS, the District maintains over 45 miles of linear multipurpose trail throughout the county; and
WHEREAS, the District administers a preventative maintenance program to ensure properly maintained trails throughout the system; and
WHEREAS, A 1.4-mile stretch of limestone trail on the Illinois Prairie Path Batavia Spur from the Kirk Road bridge to the Kane DuPage County line is in need of maintenance; and
WHEREAS, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County resurfaces portions of its linear, multipurpose trails each year, as part of its preventative maintenance program; and
WHEREAS, bids have been solicited and received for limestone resurfacing of approximately 1.4 miles of trail on the Illinois Prairie Path-Batavia Spur; and
WHEREAS, the qualified, lowest bidder is Arthur J. Lootens & Son, Inc., of West Chicago, Illinois, in the amount of $63,567.00. Additionally, staff is requesting a 5% contingency of $3,178.35 to cover any unforeseen costs, for a total project cost not to exceed $66,745.35; and
WHEREAS, funding for this project was approved in the FY 2025/26 budget, and sufficient funds totaling $75,000 are available to cover the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, in Kane County, Illinois, that the qualified, lowest bid by Arthur J. Lootens and Son, Inc. of West Chicago, Illinois, and a 5% contingency for a total project cost not to exceed $66,745.35 be, and hereby is, accepted and approved.
