Authorizing and Accepting Funding for the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Planning Grant (HMEP) for the Office of Emergency Management

WHEREAS, the Office of Emergency Management and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) have been awarded the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Planning (HMEP) grant through the State of Illinois funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the objective of the HMEP grant program is to "develop, improve and carry out emergency plans" and conduct hazardous materials emergency preparedness transportation planning activities over a period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2027; and
WHEREAS, the grant award is not to exceed Fourteen thousand five hundred eighty-three dollars and 33/100 ($14,583.33) of which Eleven thousand six hundred sixty-six dollars and 66/100 ($11,666.66) are federal funds and Two thousand nine hundred sixty-six dollars and 67/100 ($2,916.67) are local matching funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board hereby accepts the award of the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Planning (HMEP) Grant in an amount not to exceed Fourteen Thousand Five Hundred Eighty-Three Dollars and 33/100 Dollars ($14,583.33), including federal funding in an amount not to exceed Eleven Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-Six Dollars and 66/100 Dollars ($11,666.66), for the grant period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2027.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Kane County Board is hereby authorized to execute the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Planning (HMEP) Grant Agreement and any other documents necessary to effectuate the grant on behalf of the County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that that the Kane County Office of Emergency Management is authorized to receive and administer the grant funds in accordance with the terms and conditions of the grant agreement.
