APPOINTING JOHN K. JONAK TO FILL VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF REGIONAL SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS FOR THE KANE COUNTY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE REGION

WHEREAS, the Regional Superintendent of Schools for the Kane County Educational Service Region, Patricia Dal Santo, has tendered an unconditional resignation letter in accordance with section 25-2 of the Illinois Election Code (10 ILCS 5/25-2), effective June 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM, which has created a vacancy in that office; and

WHEREAS, under section 3A-6(c) of the School Code, the vacancy shall be filled within 60 (sixty) days of the occurrence of the vacancy by appointment by the chair of the county board, with the advice and consent of the county board; and

WHEREAS, under section 3A-6(c) of the School Code, any person appointed to fill a vacancy in the office of regional superintendent of schools of any educational service region must possess the qualifications required to be elected to that position, and shall obtain a certificate of eligibility from the State Superintendent of Education and file same with the county clerk of the county in which the regional superintendent's office is located; and

WHEREAS, John k. Jonak, of Batavia, Illinois, meeting all qualifications for holding the office, has been selected by the Kane County Board Chairman to fill the unexpired term for the office of Regional Superintendent of Schools for the Kane County Educational Service Region.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board hereby consents to the Kane County Board Chairman's appointment of John K. Jonak to fill the vacancy in the office of Regional Superintendent of Schools for the Kane County Educational Service Region, effective July 1, 2025, for the remainder of the unexpired term.
