WHEREAS, Gary Erickson has faithfully served Kane County for forty-three (43) years, dedicating more than four decades of his career to supporting the operations, technology, and public service mission of Kane County Government; and

WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, Gary held numerous positions within the Kane County Information Technologies Department and became an integral and highly valued member of the County’s technology team, contributing his knowledge, experience, and leadership through decades of significant technological change; and

WHEREAS, Gary contributed to and helped manage numerous major technology initiatives during his career, including infrastructure systems, financial systems, the relocation of 911 operations, the decommissioning of the County’s mainframe environment, the advancement of microcomputer systems, and the consolidation and modernization of system platforms and technology services; and

WHEREAS, Gary concluded his career serving as Kane County’s Chief Information Security Officer, becoming the first dedicated information security officer within the Kane County Information Technologies Department and establishing an important foundation for the County’s cybersecurity program; and

WHEREAS, in his role as Chief Information Security Officer, Gary worked diligently to protect Kane County from evolving cybersecurity threats, strengthen the security of the County’s computing environment, and develop and implement many of the information security policies, plans, standards, and practices that continue to guide and protect County operations today; and

WHEREAS, Gary’s professionalism, institutional knowledge, commitment to public service, and willingness to adapt and lead through more than four decades of technological advancement have made a lasting contribution to Kane County, and the systems, policies, and p...
