APPROVING AN ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH GEOSYNTEC CONSULTANTS FOR THE KANE COUNTY FLOOD STUDIES PROJECT

WHEREAS, the Kane County Hazard Mitigation Plan identified pluvial flooding, otherwise referred to as urban flooding, as Kane County's highest natural hazards risk based on how frequent it happens and the level of impacts it creates; and
WHEREAS, riverine flooding is also a significant flood risk in Kane County and many of Kane County's floodplain maps are old and in need of updating; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board approved Resolution 24-343 on September 10, 2024 allocating $250,000 of State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to be used toward the Kane County Unstudied Floodplain Mapping Initiative; and
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department issued a Request for Qualifications for Professional Engineering Services for assistance in developing a unified suite of hydrologic and hydraulic models to calculate and map the flood risks of both urban flooding and riverine flooding across the entire County (RFQ 24-057-TK); and
WHEREAS, nine responses were received with the top four firms being interviewed by staff from both the County Environmental & Water Resources and Purchasing Department and Geosyntec Consultants was determined to be the most qualified firm for the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board has authorized the Chairman to enter into an agreement with Geosyntec Consultants in the amount of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand and zero cents ($250,000.00) for the Kane County Flood Studies Project.
