WHEREAS, the Kane County Hazard Mitigation Plan identified flooding as Kane County's highest natural hazards risk and flooding disproportionality impacts lower income areas; and

WHEREAS, flooding awareness and education are important in protecting residents and infrastructure in Kane County; and

WHEREAS, the Kane County Board approved Resolution 24-2617 on September 10, 2024 allocating $50,000 of State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to be used toward the Kane County Base Flood Bench Marking Initiative; and

WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department issued a Request for Proposals for Professional Services for assistance in developing a Base Flood Benchmarking Initiative to provide signage for flooding awareness and education (RFP 24-061-TS); and

WHEREAS, one response was received and reviewed by staff from both the County Environmental & Water Resources and Purchasing Department and Baxter & Woodman Engineering Consultants was determined to be a qualified firm for the initiative.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board that the Chairman is authorized to enter into an agreement with Baxter & Woodman Engineering Consultants in the amount of Fifty Thousand and zero cents ($50,000.00) for the Kane County Base Flood Benchmarking Initiative.
