Authorizing Contract Amendment with Kerber, Eck & Braeckel to Provide Financial, Accounting, and Consulting Services for Workforce Development Department

WHEREAS, due to understaffing, critical financial, accounting, and consulting needs exist in the Workforce Development Department; and
WHEREAS, there is a backlog of essential accounting functions that continue to exist and require immediate financial assistance to meet grant reporting deadlines which will prevent a permanent loss of grant funding; and
WHEREAS, the County has an existing contract with Kerber, Eck & Braeckel LLP (KEB), of Springfield, IL to provide Workforce Development with this financial assistance, the contract costs are funded with grant revenue, this contract is set to expire on December 31, 2025; the original contract with KEB was for $120,000 and current charges total $110,420.41 as the financial issues and reporting deadlines have required more assistance than originally estimated; and
WHEREAS, until Workforce is able to fill the open Workforce Fiscal Manager position and train this new hire, that KEB continue providing financial assistance to ensure and therefore will require an amendment to increase the contract from $120,000 to $150,000, which is funded entirely with grant funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board hereby authorizes the increase to the contract from $120,000 to $150,000 and authorizes the Kane County Board Chairman to execute any necessary documents in connection with this amendment.
