AUTHORIZATION OF ELECTRIC UTILITY CONTRACT FOR KANE COUNTY

WHEREAS, to receive the best price for electrical power, Kane County purchases electricity on the open market to service Kane County facilities; and

WHEREAS, electricity suppliers will not hold and quoted price longer than a 24-hour period in part because prices can swing significantly based on regional and global events; and

WHEREAS, the best method to purchase electricity that has daily price fluctuations in a commodity market, is through a process which allows real-time submittal and acceptance of the successful price; and

WHEREAS, it has been determined that the best method to procure said purchase of electricity is to prequalify electric suppliers, receive County Board approval to acquire electricity, receive bids for the purchase of electricity and award the purchase of electricity within one day of opening said bids, a practice the County has previously utilized on several occasions; and

WHEREAS, Progressive Energy Group, LLC has been authorized by Resolution No. 23-167 to provide electric power consulting services and will provide consulting services to complete bids for electricity for Kane County; and

WHEREAS, the electric energy agreement due to fluctuating prices, may be up to a three (3) year agreement with up to three (3) one-year extensions per proposed rates, term, and the acceptance of both parties and the Kane County Board approval.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Progressive Energy Group, LLC is authorized to provide electric power consulting services and will provide consulting services to obtain bids for electricity for Kane County; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to award and enter into a contract for the purchase of electricity for up to a three (3) year term, with up to three (3) one-year ex...
