APPOINTING KENNETH C. SHEPRO AS KANE COUNTY LOCAL HISTORIAN

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Local Historian Act (50 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq.), each county may appoint a local historian to prepare and publish local histories, preserve historic records, artifacts, and edifices, and document current events, with appointment by the county's chief elected governing body; and

WHEREAS, the Kane County Board has established the position of Kane County Local Historian through Resolution No. 25-351 and the Kane County Code to ensure the preservation, interpretation, and promotion of Kane County's history for the benefit of current and future generations; and

WHEREAS, the Kane County Local Historian shall serve as an appointed officer responsible for researching, collecting, preserving, and interpreting county history and records; and

WHEREAS, the Kane County Local Historian possess knowledge of county history, research expertise, strong communication skills, and organizational ability to produce accurate historical materials; and

WHEREAS, the position is intended as an honorary volunteer role to formalize the office while minimizing financial impact on the County; and

WHEREAS, section 1 of the Local Historian Act (50 ILCS 130/1) provides that the local historian shall be appointed by the chief elected body of the county and shall serve at the pleasure of the governing body; and

WHEREAS, the Chairman of the Kane County Board has selected Kenneth C. Shepro to serve as the Kane County Local Historian, in accordance with the Local Historian Act.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that Kenneth C. Shepro is hereby appointed as the Kane County Local Historian, to serve in an honorary capacity and to fulfill the duties and responsibilities set forth in the Local Historian Act.
