Authorizing the Reappointment of Peter Burgert, Sr., as Chairman of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office Merit Commission was created in the county of Kane, Illinois, to be known as the Kane County Sheriff's Office Merit Commission. (Ord. 66-23, § I, 2-8-1966; Ord. 06-324, § 2, 8-8-2006); and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Merit Commission has the authority and responsibility to promulgate rules, regulations, and procedures for the operation of the merit system and is hereby authorized to provide in said rules, regulations, and procedures for the orderly appointment of Sheriff’s deputies and officers; and
WHEREAS, the commission shall consist of three (3) members appointed for terms of six (6) years each; and
WHEREAS, Merit Commission Chairman Peter Burgert, Sr., will complete his current term on the Commission on October 1, 2026, and the Sheriff would like to reappoint Mr. Burgert to another term as Chairman ending on September 30, 2032.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board authorizes the re-appointment of Peter Burgert, Sr., as Chairman of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission to complete a six-year term expiring September 30, 2032.
