APPROVING A FUNDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF KANE AND PACE FOR THE RIDE IN KANE PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the Illinois Constitution of 1970, Article VII, Section 10 and 5 ILCS 220/1, et seq. authorizes the County of Kane ("County") and the Pace Suburban Bus Division of the Regional Transit Authority ("PACE") to cooperate in the performance of their respective duties and responsibilities by contract and other agreements; and
WHEREAS, the County and PACE desire to enter into an agreement to support the Ride In Kane Program (hereinafter "RIK") that provides transportation services for older citizens and citizens with disabilities throughout Kane County; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board has budgeted funding for RIK in the amount of Three Million One Hundred Eighty Thousand Dollars ($3,180,000.00) and deems RIK to be an important transportation service for the residents of Kane County by providing safe and efficient paratransit services to older persons and persons with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the County and PACE have determined a mutually satisfactory allocation of responsibilities and costs for RIK as set forth in a funding agreement (a copy of which is on file with the County Clerk's Office).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that a funding agreement between the County and PACE for the Ride in Kane Program is hereby approved and that the County Board Chairman is hereby authorized to execute said funding agreement with PACE.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Kane County Board appropriate a sum not to exceed Three Million One Hundred Eighty Thousand Dollars ($3,180,000.00) for 2026, of which Three million one hundred seventy-nine thousand two hundred dollars ($3,179,200.00) shall be appropriated from Transportation Sales Tax Fund #305, Line Item #55010 (External Grants), and Eight hundred dollars ($800.00) shall be appropriated from Transportation Sales Tax Fund...
