Authorizing Kane County's Continuing Participation in the Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership with Funding from Fund 400- Economic Development

WHEREAS, on January 5th, 2023, the Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership officially launched. The partnership is a first-of-its-kind united effort including Kane County, the City of Chicago and the Counties of DuPage, Lake, Will, McHenry, Cook and Kendall. The partnership aims to drive a regional economic strategy intended to deliver mutual benefits to the partners, and strengthen Chicagoland's economic force in an increasingly fierce competitive global market; and
WHEREAS, with financial commitment from each of the partners totaling $1 million for the first in a three-year pilot, World Business Chicago (WBC) continues to manage the Chicagoland Partnership and expand its services region-wide, complementing existing municipal and county programs; and
WHEREAS, Kane County staff and municipal partners have benefited greatly from the shared data services provided by WBC through the Chicagoland Partnership. The cost of services provided by WBC is much lower than if Kane County were to purchase all of them separately; and
WHEREAS, WBC continues to support Kane County economic development by providing resources and assistance to existing Kane County businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board approved Resolution 22-412 authorizing Kane County's participation in the Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership; and
WHEREAS, the Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership has requested $54,706 (Fifty-Four Thousand Seven Hundred Six Dollars) from Kane County for its funding share of the second year of the partnership.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board authorizes the continuing funding for Kane County's share of $54,706 (Fifty-Four Thousand Seven Hundred Six Dollars) in the Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership t...
