AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF THE LIVE SCAN GRANT FROM THE ILLINOIS CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION AUTHORITY FOR THE KANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office applied for funding from the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) through its Live Scan grant to fund the purchase of updated fingerprinting equipment, which will improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery by modernizing fingerprinting capabilities; ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and provide more secure transmission of biometric data to authorized agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office expects to purchase three new fingerprinting machines with these grant funds: two to replace outdated machines at the Sheriff's Office and one new device with accessories to be placed at the Kane County Courthouse; and
WHEREAS, the County of Kane, on behalf of the Kane County Sheriff's Office, has been awarded the ICJIA Live Scan grant in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) for the fingerprinting equipment purchase; and
WHEREAS, the grant amount needs to be reflected in the Sheriff's Office revenue and expense General Ledger accounts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board authorizes acceptance of the State of Illinois, Criminal Justice Information Authority Live Scan grant funds in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) on behalf of the Kane County Sheriff's Office to be used for updated fingerprinting machines and accessories and accounted for with the following budget adjustments:
