ADOPTION OF THE KANE COUNTY LONG-RANGE FACILITIES MASTER PLAN

WHEREAS, recognizing the imperative for strategic planning to address the evolving needs of Kane County's Government and Judicial departments, the County embarked on a comprehensive Facility Needs Assessment in 2021; and

WHEREAS, with the ever-changing landscape of population growth, technological advancements, and shifting patterns of public service delivery, the County recognized the need to develop a comprehensive Long-Range Facilities Master Plan to ensure proactive and informed decision-making regarding the utilization, preservation, and enhancement of county facilities to meet present and future needs; and

WHEREAS, the County initiated the planning process for the Kane County Long Range Facilities Master Plan in April 2023 which included County Board workshops, steering group meetings of the governmental and judicial offices and departments, and regular updates to the County Board; and

WHEREAS, the County developed a county-wide Long-Range Facilities Master Plan that is sound, actionable, and fiscally responsible, and that meets the varying operational needs of all county offices and departments; and

WHEREAS, the Kane County Long-Range Facilities Master Plan is a long-term planning document that focuses on the preservation and potential redevelopment and/or readapting of current facilities as well as the identification of and/or planning for new facilities to address the anticipated County facility needs; and

WHEREAS, the Master Plan includes recommendations for short-term, medium-term, and long-term consideration, and will serve as a reference when decisions for improvements to facilities are considered, offering flexibility to adapt to the county's future needs, challenges, and financial considerations at that time.
