AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF QUALIFIED VENDORS TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL SERVICES FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURE PROJECTS IN KANE COUNTY

WHEREAS, The Kane County Development and Community Services Department is seeking County Board approval to accept the qualifications of five consulting agencies that submitted proposals in response to RFQ #: 26-020 - Agricultural Consultants; and

WHEREAS, The Development and Community Services Department formed an internal review panel to evaluate and score a total of six submissions in response to the RFQ - five of which were determined qualified to support the completion of ongoing and planned food and agriculture projects; and

WHEREAS, The Department will shall submit a separate, concurrent resolution authorizing contractual agreements with the consultants determined most qualified to perform work on behalf of the County; and

WHEREAS, Kane County has secured funding to enlist vendor services which have been allocated through the FY 2026 budget within the Farmland Preservation, Economic Development, and Growing for Kane Funds' line items for contractual / consulting services; and

WHEREAS, The Development and Community Services Department shall continue to pursue federal, state, local, and private sources of funding to cover any project work that may exceed FY 2026 budget allocations for contractual / consulting services as it relates to active planning and program work benefiting the local food system and agricultural sector; and

WHEREAS, The Department is actively overseeing the Farmland Protection Program (Ord. # 01-67), Growing for Kane Program (Ord. # 13-240), and other economic development initiatives to conserve farmland, support agricultural business opportunities, and increase access to fresh, local foods in Kane County communities; and
