AUTHORIZE ACCEPTANCE OF SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING TO SUPPORT WORKFORCE SERVICES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHINESE MUTUAL AID ASSOCIATION AND WORLD RELIEF

WHEREAS, Kane County, through its Office of Community Reinvestment, administers Federal workforce development funding provided by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) for the three-county area of Kane, DeKalb, and Kendall Counties; and
WHEREAS, in coordination with WIOA grantees, DCEO has allocated and awarded state funds to the County in the amount of $75,000.00 to augment workforce programming during Program Year 2023, which will conclude on June 30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, said workforce programming will be delivered in partnership with existing one-stop partners Chinese Mutual Aid Association in Elgin and World Relief in Aurora to offer digital literacy and supportive service interventions to assist vulnerable immigrants with access to employment readiness assistance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Director of the Office of Community Reinvestment is authorized to accept the supplemental funds awarded to Kane County for Program Year 2023 and to sign grant agreements, certifications, and other documents required by DCEO to accept said award, and to sign agreements with Chinese Mutual Aid Association and World Relief in a combined amount not to exceed $67,500 (Sixty-Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and No/100 Dollars in order to implement project activities and deliver employment services.
