APPOINTING THE COUNTY ENGINEER AND DIRECTOR OF THE DIVISION OF TRANSPORTATION

WHEREAS, a vacancy will exist in the position of County Engineer on February 1, 2025 in Kane County, Illinois due to the retirement of the incumbent County Engineer Carl Schoedel, P.E.; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board approved resolution 24-386 dated October 8, 2024 and submitted the name of Michael Zakosek, P.E. as to the Department of Transportation to take the examination for the office of County Engineer; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation by Omer M. Osman, Secretary, certified to the County Clerk of Kane County on November 1, 2024, that Michael Zakosek made a satisfactory grade and is eligible for appointment to said office; and
WHEREAS, after following the interview and selection process for appointing directors for the County departments set forth in Section 2-48(A)(3) of the Kane County Code, the Chairman of the Board recommends Michael Zakosek, P.E. for the position of County Engineer and Director of the Division of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Board desires to employ Michael Zakosek as the County Engineer and Director of the Division of Transportation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that Michael Zakosek, P.E. is hereby appointed as County Engineer and Director of the Division of Transportation for Kane County for a term of six years effective February 1, 2025; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the salary of the County Engineer and Director of Division of Transportation be fixed at $180,000 annually; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the County Clerk is hereby directed to transmit two (2) certified originals of this resolution to the district office of the Illinois Department of Transportation.
