AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH BRANDT EXCAVATING, INC. FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE OGDEN GARDENS WATER SERVICE PROJECT

WHEREAS, Residents in Ogden Gardens have been allocated Community Development loan funding and American Rescue Plan funding to replace lead containing service lines from the home to the street; and
WHEREAS, The 122 residents within the Ogden Gardens Water Trust service area were provided an opportunity to sign up for loan funding to replace their water services and 38 residents signed up for the program; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Purchasing Department solicited bids for the Ogden Gardens Water Service Project; and
WHEREAS, bids were received and reviewed by the engineer and Brandt Excavating, Inc of Morris, IL was found to be the lowest responsive responsible bidder in the amount of $381,892.00.
WHEREAS, Lead service lines are a public health risk and it is in the best interest of the community to replace the service lines in Ogden Gardens as soon as possible. Funding is available through both the Community Development and American Rescue Plan to replace the services lines for additional residents if they sign up for the loan program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Chairman thereof is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement with Brandt Excavating, Inc for an amount of $420,081.20 which includes a ten percent contingency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kane County Board and the Chairman thereof that ARPA/CDBG-CV will pay for the engineer, Clark Dietz, for design and construction engineering and the full cost of the public side of the service lines on Eastern Avenue. The Community Development funds and remaining ARPA funds will pay for the private side of the service lines.
