AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE KANE COUNTY ADULT JUSTICE CENTER'S CONTRACT WITH ARAMARK CORRECTIONAL SERVICES LLC TO PROVIDE FOOD SERVICES AT THE KANE COUNTY JUVENILE JUSTICE CENTER

WHEREAS, the Kane County Sheriff's Office currently has an agreement in place with Aramark Correctional Services LLC to provide food services at the Kane County Adult Justice Center; and
WHEREAS, on February 8, 2022, the Kane County Board approved an emergency purchase affidavit (Resolution 22-46) allowing the Kane County Juvenile Justice to utilize Aramark Correctional Services LLC to provide food services at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2602.110 of the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice Standards for County Juvenile Detention Centers, juvenile detention facilities shall provide meals at reasonable intervals, and food must be of sufficient nutritional value. Pursuant to Article 16 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Court Services and Teamsters Local 330, employees shall be served meals no different in quality, quantity, or menu than that served to youth. Pursuant to 105 ILCS 125/4 and 23 Illinois Administrative Code 305.10, every public school, including public special education facilities, must have a free breakfast and lunch program; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County and the Juvenile Justice Center to remain in compliance with the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice Standards for County Juvenile Detention Centers and the Illinois State Board of Education Food Service Rules; and
WHEREAS, the Kane County Adult Justice Center and Kane County Juvenile Justice Center currently have a relationship for food services with Aramark Correctional Services LLC, which has the expertise, experience, knowledge, and resources and is prepared and able to provide the food services required at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center.
