Ratifying and Approving Agreement Between Dell Technologies and Kane County Public Defender for Laptop Computers

WHEREAS, pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/4 4014, the County of Kane has received funds from the Illinois Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts for the Kane County Public Defender’s Office and public defender services; and
WHEREAS, Kane County Assistant Public Defenders use laptop computers daily to access their client files and to review discovery both paper and digital; and
WHEREAS, Kane County Public Defender received ARPA funds to purchase laptops approximately 3 years ago; and
WHEREAS, the current laptops have reached their end of use, the warranties have ended, and there have been numerous issues with use of the laptops; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of new laptops will allow attorneys in the Public Defender’s Office to effectively and efficiently carry out their duties to their clients and to the court; and
WHEREAS, the Public Defender’s Office has considered potential alternative providers, and when compared Dell Technologies is the cost-effective option to provide these particular services for the Public Defender’s Office; and
WHEREAS, based on the foregoing reasons, it is necessary for the Kane County Board to ratify and approve the agreement between Dell Technologies and the Kane County Public Defender, attached hereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the attached agreement between Dell Technologies and the Kane County Public Defender is approved and the signature of the Kane County Public Defender is hereby affirmed and ratified.
