Proclamation Recognizing Small Business Saturday and Giving Tuesday in Kane County

WHEREAS, Small Business Saturday, launched as an annual celebration on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, highlights the important role small businesses play in Kane County’s economy; and
WHEREAS, small business owners are the heart of downtowns in many cities and villages, creating unique destinations for dining and shopping that foster local pride, and attract both residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, small businesses employ 46.8% of the employees in the private sector in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Small Business Saturday encourages everyone to shop locally, celebrating the contributions of small business owners and their employees in strengthening our sense of community and driving growth; and
WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday, established as a national day of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, inspires philanthropy, volunteerism and community service as citizens come together to support causes that matter to them; and
WHEREAS, Kane County encourages participation in Giving Tuesday by inviting citizens to give back in personally meaningful ways, helping to build a stronger, more compassionate community; and
WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday serves as a reminder of the power of collective generosity, urging individuals to support charitable causes that improve the lives of others and contribute to the well-being of our community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kane County Board members of the Kane County Board, encourage residents to take part in Small Business Saturday and participate in Giving Tuesday to help create a thriving, caring and prosperous future for all.
