Resolution Approving a Bid for the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve Site Improvements

WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and desirable for the Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Kane County, Illinois to authorize bids for the re-construction of the main parking lot, boat launch, shelters, restroom, regional trail system and surrounding natural areas at Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve; and
WHEREAS, The District received an Open space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) for the proposed site improvements at Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve; and
WHEREAS, the projects includes the re-construction of the main parking lot, ADA accessible boat launch, shelters, restroom, improvements to the regional trail system and surrounding natural areas; and
WHEREAS, Obsidian Asphalt Paving, was the qualified, lowest bidder, with a base bid plus Alternate # 1 total of $1,293,604.70. Additionally, $48,796.00 shall be set aside as contingency to cover any unanticipated additional project costs, for a total contract cost of $1,342,400.70.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Kane County, Illinois, that the qualified, lowest bid from Obsidian Asphalt Paving for the Jon J. Duerr Site Improvements bid plus Alternate # 1 for $1,293,604.70, plus a contingency of $48,796.00 for a total project cost of $1,342,400.70 be, and hereby is, accepted and approved.
