Ratifying an Emergency Purchase Affidavit to Purchase the Additional Needed Material, Labor, and Supervision for Cylinder Excavation and Casing Install on the Passenger Elevator Located in Building A from Urban Elevator Services, LLC for the Building Management Department

WHEREAS, the Building Management Department had previously requested and received emergency purchase authorization from the Kane County Board Chairman, pursuant to Kane County Code Chapter 2, Article Vl, Division 3, Section 2-2L7 (A) for the purchase of material, labor and supervision for Urban Elevator to furnish and install a replacement jack assembly on the passenger elevator located in Building A at the Government Center in an amount not to exceed $130,000 from budgeted Building Management Capital fund line items due to the urgency of having the only elevator located in Building A down and inoperable. These repairs were an emergent need; and
WHEREAS, due to unforeseen issues that arose during the initiation of the aforementioned repair, it has become necessary for Urban Elevator to excavate the collapsed cylinder hole and install casing in the existing hoist way on the A Building Passenger Elevator located in Building A at the Government Center; and
WHEREAS, Urban Elevator Services, LLC provided a quote of One Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Four Hundred Eight Dollars ($125,408) for this repair. There is a 20% contingency, bringing the total to One Hundred Fifty Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Forty Cents ($150,488.40).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kane County Board that the Emergency Purchase Affidavit, submitted by the Kane County Building Management Department and authorized by the County Board Chairman, is hereby ratified for the purchase of the needed material, labor, and supervision for cylinder excavation and casing install on the passenger elevator located in Building A from Urban Elevator Services, LLC, 54 Eisenhower Ln. N., Lombard, IL 60148 in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-Eight Dollars and Forty Cents ($150,488.40).
